FAQ

Awesome! And thanks so much for taking the time and effort to report the bug! We definitely need your help to make the game better. To report a bug, please go to the Pause menu by pressing the ESC key on your PC keyboard or the Start Button on Xbox or Playstation. In the Pause menu, press on Report a Bug.

Report a bug

On the Report a Bug screen, please give a short description of the bug or issue that you’re seeing. You can also note any suggestions or cool ideas here as well!

The in-game bug reporter will generate a player log and screenshot, so it’s the best way to send us a bug report.

Another way to report any bugs or suggestions is to email us at: feedback@musegames.com with your player log.

You can find the player log file for Wildmender here: C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Muse Games\Wildmender\Player.log

Please note that the path to find the player log is only available for the PC. For console players, please use the in-game bug reporter to report bugs. Thanks so much and sorry for any trouble the issue has caused.

  1. Complete the tutorial up to breaking the glowing circle that envelops your oasis. Once you complete the step, you should see a message saying that multiplayer is now available.

    Multiplayer Now Available
  2. Next, on the multiplayer session host’s computer, hit ESC and then click “Invite Other Player(s)”. You will then see a join code appear.

    Hosting Server
  3. Please note that the game cannot be paused while it is open to multiplayer.
  4. Give the join code to the friends you wish to join you.
  5. On the client (player joining the host session) side, click “Join Other Player(s)” in the Main Menu, and enter the join code your friend gave you.
  6. Wait for the game to load the map, and you’re ready to garden and explore the world together!

Connection in Wildmender uses P2P networking and a direct connection between you and your friends. If you’re having trouble connecting with friends, there is something in the network blocking your connection, and we’ll try our best to help you connect!

  • We added a relay service to try to help you connect with friends. Please have you and your friends all go into Settings in the Pause Menu then click on Network. For the Always Use Relay Server option, turn it to On. Please also have the host player select the closest relay server region (the host could try a few different ones if the current one doesn’t work).
Relay Server

If the relay service does not work for you and your friends, here are some additional things to try:

  • Try connecting via VPN (including both game host and guest).
  • Try connecting via network accelerator (with guest players only and with both game host and guest).
  • Ensure Wildmender is allowed by your computer’s firewall. If you’re using Windows Defender, open the Windows menu / Windows Administrative Tools / Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security. In “Inbound Rules,” please make sure “Wildmender” is Allowed.
  • Turn off any antivirus or whitelist Wildmender for your antivirus.
  • Make sure the game has downloaded properly. Right-click on the game in your game library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab, and click - Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
  • Restart Steam. Sometimes that’s all that is required!
  • Try opting out of Steam Beta.
  • Ensure port 9050 is not used by another application.
  • Restart your router: Unplug the router and leave it unplugged for 5 minutes. Then, plug it back in and connect to the internet to check if this solved the problem.
  • Try getting a public or static IP address from your internet service provider.
  • If you and your friend(s) are in the same Local Area Network (LAN), you can also try connecting by direct IP. Open windows power shell and type in ipconfig to find the local IP address of the host player. If you have Relay Server set to On in Network Settings (in the pause menu), please toggle it to Off. When you click on Join Other Player from the game’s main menu, have the guest player(s) fill in the IP Address of the host player while leaving the Connect Key field empty. Then click on OK. This should allow you and your friend in the same LAN to connect via direct IP.
  • If none of the above suggestions is working for you, please definitely email us at feedback@musegames.com with your player log, and we will try our best to troubleshoot for you.
  • Make sure steam is running and restart it if it is
  • Verify integrity of files on Steam:
    • Right click the game entry on steam
    • Click "properties"
    • In the new window that pops up, click "installed files" on the left
    • Click "verify integrity of game files" and let it run
  • Try restarting your computer
  • If you are running a 4k monitor, try pressing alt+enter when you encounter the black screen.
  • Please make sure your graphics card driver is up to date.
  • Try reinstalling your graphics drivers and selecting the Clean Install option (this may affect any custom settings you have setup for your graphics card)
  • Please make sure that Windows is completely up-to-date and there are no updates waiting to be installed. Fully update Windows, then try again.
  • Please check to see if you have MSI Afterburner or any other graphics card over-clocking or “boosting” software. If you do, try disabling or uninstalling it and try running the game.
  • Try temporarily disabling your antivirus or other security software and see if that allows the game to run.
  • If you're running Windows N or Windows Pro N, you will need to install the media feature pack found in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Optional Features. From there, locate and install the Media Feature Pack, then restart your computer.
